I was recently invited to speak at several events on the Arabian Peninsula.   copper clad aluminum wire suppliers   Obtaining visas and vaccination documents in preparation for the almost three-week, five-city tour was quite a challenge—as was airport security once I arrived. Apparently, no one liked the idea of the electronics and wires of Belden’s demonstration kit traveling in the airliner cargo hold…

While much of my adventure could be better summed up in a travel warning blog, I did have the opportunity to visit with colleagues, customers and partners to glean plenty of feedback on the data center trends of the region. In doing so, I realized that the portion of my presentation focusing on energy savings wasn’t exactly of great concern in the region—in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, gasoline is just 45 cents a gallon.

Reasons for Using Shielded Cable

Like a shield used during battle, shielding in cables acts as a barrier that protects the cable from external threats, such as electrical interference (EMI). It also prevents cable signals from interfering with surrounding cables and equipment.

Most of us understand the need for security at the main data center entrance, as we certainly do not want those with unauthorized access touching critical networking equipment.

Unfortunately, with so much data—from    copper clad aluminum wire suppliers   personal information to intellectual property—now being transmitted and stored via the data center, protecting that information from within is becoming a greater concern than ever before.

As the need for speed in the data center continues to grow, you’ve probably been bombarded with high speed assembly terms like SFP+, QSFP+, interoperability, DAC, AOC, EEPROM …  copper clad steel wire manufacturers   and the list goes on! High speed assemblies are ideal for a number of different data center deployments,Copper Clad Aluminum  such as top of rack (ToR) and middle of row (MoR).

Welcome to the Data Center blog. Recently I gave a webinar on Data Center Trends and one of the topics I covered was the concept of holistic design. I thought I'd make that the feature of my first blog post.

In previous blogs on DCIM, we looked at strategies for getting buy-in from upper management and some key tips for configuring and implementing the system once you’ve gotten approval to purchase and deploy DCIM.

In this blog, I’ll delve a little deeper into the importance of open standards and integrated cabling infrastructure.

In today’s high-density virtualized data centers, keeping equipment cool is one of the topmost concerns among data center managers. And the problem is two-fold—not only does cooling represent about 30% of operational costs, but not having uninterrupted proper intake temperatures for equipment can result in overheating and failures that lead to even higher operating costs.

By now, we all understand the term “virtualization” in reference to server environments in the data center, but there are some new “…izations” being thrown around that deserve a closer look.

The terms “standardization,” “modularization” and “industrialization” are some of the recent buzz words being used to describe effective data center design, and often these terms are used interchangeably with little knowledge of what they actually mean and how they work together for effective holistic data center design.

Earlier this month, I blogged about the importance of cabinet-level security in the data centerdue to the potential for internal threats.

If you’ve realized the importance of bringing security down to the cabinet level and are planning to deploy a cabinet access control system, there are many features to consider when evaluating solutions.

Big News from Netflix

It’s official: Netflix has acknowledged plans to close its last privately owned data center in the next few months. This decision means the company will be one of the first of its size to rely solely on public cloud storage.

Have you heard? According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, data center energy consumption will increase to roughly 140 billion kilowatt hours per year by 2020 – costing U.S. businesses $13 billion in annual electricity bills (not to mention the impacts of the nearly 100 million metric tons of greenhouse-gas emissions being generated).

Green data centers use less energy than their counterparts, and eliminate wasteful processes.Less money spent on energy bills means more money that stays within your organization. But with concerns about uptimesecurity and fire suppression, it’s easy to see why green data center operations aren’t always top of mind.
